North Park University will present a two-day seminar on Vikings in North America to raise public awareness of contributions by Scandinavians toward building the United States.
Scandinavian-Americans point out that Vikings landed on the northeast coast of North America almost 500 years before Columbus reached the continent. The free seminars will focus on the sagas, archeology and Native American oral tradition of the Vikings in North America.

Starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday with a lecture, the seminar continues for a full day of activities at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the university at 3225 W. Foster Av. in Chicago.
