What’s sad is that the widespread Palestinian violence is hardly shocking.
Palestinian rage is real, of course.
But how couldit not be when Israel is always held up as the enemy, when Jerusalem is taught to be the capital of Palestine, when schoolchildren are given maps where the country “Israel” does not appear?
In Israel there has been a strong people’s peace movement.
There exists nothing of the sort among Palestinians, who are not Israeli citizens.
Hate demonstrations, riots, blown-up buses and lynchings have not disappeared during the “peace” process.
Palestinians have shown what they intend to do to Israel when they acquire heavy weapons.
The immediate goal of Palestinian leaders is achieving a state without making peace.
Make no mistake–for Palestinians, the power of the state is the thing.
The dream of peace was the broken promise to Israel.
