Orland Park-based Consolidated High School District 230 has approved a new contract with its superintendent.
At their meeting Monday in Tinley Park, school board members unanimously ratified a second one-year contract with Tim Brown, who has been superintendent since June 1994.
“I’m very pleased with it,” Brown said of the agreement.
The new pact calls for a 4.8 percent salary increase for Brown, to $147,762 from $140,981. The contract is retroactive to Sept. 1.
Brown, of unincorporated Orland Township, said he prefers a one-year contract to the multiple-year ones early in his tenure, calling it “more flexible for everyone.”
The salary increase includes Brown’s payment to the state retirement fund. The contract also continues to provide a $5,000 annuity, as well as a district automobile.
Brown’s salary increase was 2.4 percent last year, he said.
Also Monday, the school board amended the district’s policy prohibiting sexual harassment, adding sexual orientation to the list of criteria for which a person may not be targeted.
Officials had said the policy, which was discussed at the previous board meeting, needed to be changed to agree with county law.
