Margaret S. Diffenderffer, nee Shields, died October 18, 2000, in her home at Cornerstone of Douglas. She was the loving wife of the late Raymond Sr.; incredible mother of Marilyn Clarke (the late Michael), Raymond Jr., Jean Waden (George), Paul (Catherine); Super Gram of Mark, Kevin Waden (Christine), Meg, Steve Waden, Laura, Kathleen Wilke (Chris), Julie, David, Brian and great grandmother of Andrew Waden. She is preceeded in death by her brother Monsignor John T. Shields, sisters Elizabeth Whalen and S.M. Jean Ellen Shields, BVM, and great grandson Andrew Waden. Mrs. Diffenderffer was born in Rock Island, IL, March 3, 1911. She spent the majority of her life in the Chicago area, where she was ‘Mrs. Diff’ to hundreds of children as the secretary at St. Cornelius School for twenty years. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2000, at 10 a.m. at Mary, Seed of Wisdom, 1300 S. Cumberland, Park Ridge, with a memorial mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. Donations may be made to St. Cornelius School or Hospice.
