Your Oct. 15 editorial on health care did an excellent job of bringing attention to the complex issues surrounding the future of Medicare. While the health-care rhetoric has heated up on both sides of the presidential campaign, it is important to recognize the need to preserve Medicare, find a solution for the uninsured and consider both candidates’ plans.
As Baby Boomers age, the change in demographics will make Medicare’s stability that much more significant. Medicare will need restructuring to accommodate the increasing number of participants. The existing system will continue to undergo change, just as the practice of medicine is undergoing change.
Thank you for bringing these health-care issues to light as Americans prepare to vote for their choice.
