Emil A. Staroba, 57, formerly of the Chicago area, of Egg Harbor, WI, passed away Wednesday morning at home after a battle with cancer. Emil was born Aug. 5, 1943 in Chicago, the son of Emil J. and Loretta A., nee Loukota, Staroba. He served in the U.S. Navy during 1960-1964. He was employed with GM at the McCook, IL Electro-Motive Plant as Assistant Chief Stationary Engineer. Emil was employed with GM for over 30 years, retiring in 1995, at which time he moved to Egg Harbor in Door County. He loved his family and Emil enjoyed working with his hands, and creating. He showed this in the restoration of cars and antique cars, along with woodworking and gardening. Emil loved the outdoors and hunting. His interest in music included the tunes from the 1920’s and 30’s. Ballroom dancing also found it’s way into Emil’s life, as he enjoyed it very much. Survivors include his three children, Barbara (Alex) Khlievich of Buffalo Grove, IL, Victoria Staroba of Addison, IL and Andrew (Jennifer) of Pullman, MI; father, Emil J. of Chicago; three grandchildren, Kyle, Madison and Hannah; one sister, Ginny (Karl Mecewitz) Noble-Mecewitz of Acton, MA; nephew and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother. Friends may call at Davis Mortuary in Sturgeon Bay, WI on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 4 to 9 p.m. Friends may also call at Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Stickney, IL on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Burial will be made in Mount Auburn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name.
