William T. Breen, 75, of Manistee, MI, formerly of Chicago, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000. He was born Feb. 12, 1925 in Chicago, the son of John and Lillian, nee O’Brien, Breen. He was a graduate of Calumet High School. Bill retired from the Chicago Police Department as a homicide detective in 1978 after 23 years of service. After his retirement the Breens owned the Sky Top Resort in Houghton Lake, MI, until moving to Manistee in 1994. He was a former member of St. Walter Catholic Church in Chicago. He was married to Elinor Snedden who preceded him in death in 1999. He is survived by son Thomas, at home and daughters Melissa (Stephen Eckert) Breen of San Francisco, CA, Antoinette (Henry) Debski of Homewood, IL and Molly Thorwell of Bolingbrook, IL; four grandchildren; sister Lauretta Orbon of Oak Lawn, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services were held in Manistee. Memorial gifts to the Association for Retarded Citizens. The Johnson Funeral Home, P.C., 480 Water St., Manistee, MI 49660 was in charge of arrangements.
