Helen Polales, nee Panagakis, 100, died peacefully in her sleep at home in Glenview on October 28, 2000, loving wife for 34 years of the late Constantine “Gus” Polales; beloved mother of John C. (the late Lois) Polales of Glenview, Nicholas Paul of Encino, CA, and the late Edith Polales; beloved grandmother of Dean (Lori Stone) Polales, Caroline Polales (David) Sansing, John Polales, and William Paul. She was a special friend of her granddaughter-in-law, Lori Stone and her grandson-in-law, David Sansing; cherished great-grandmother of Caroline Stone Polales, John Dean Stone Polales, and Dean David Sansing; loving sister of Nicholas (Elsie) Pann, the late William (Helen) Pann, the late Bessie (the late Gus) Javaras, the late Anthony (the late Florence) Pann, and the late Stella (the late George) Kakridas. Mrs. Polales was born in Ahoria, Greece in 1899 to John and Nicoletta Panagakis, nee Zakios. She moved to the United States in 1916. She lived since 1952 with her youngest son John and her beloved daughter-in-law Lois Polales. Visitation Tuesday, 3 to 9 p.m. at N.H. Scott & Hebblethwaite Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Rd., Glenview (2 blocks south of Lake Avenue on west side). Funeral arrangements pending at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
