The accusation was bound to be made–“Cole attack wouldn’t have happened on Bush’s watch, McCain proclaims” (News, Oct. 26). Ignoring the horrific deaths of the 241 Marines killed in a terrorist attack in Beirut on Ronald Reagan’s watch, Sen. John McCain’s ridiculous statement must be seen as just an opportunistic attempt to take crass political advantage of human tragedy. Any blunders made in the case of the USS Cole were strictly a matter of naval command and control as already explained.
