the past few months I have been hearing a general lament that issues for young people are not being addressed; however, I have yet to hear what specific issues they want discussed.

Health insurance, education, the status of Social Security, college tax credits are all important issues for the young. The present administration has addressed the issues of parental leave and childcare for working parents.

The more important issue is which party should win this election.

Union members should remember that a Republican, Ronald Reagan, diminished the effectiveness of the unions so that they hardly had any bargaining powers left. The deficit was born under his tax-cut proposals, and it continued until the present Democratic administration.

What compassionate conservative appointed Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court? Under what administrations were Social Security, Medicare and Civil Rights passed?

This is indeed an important election, not only for president, but also for a Congress that knows how to lead.
