Following are the corrected 2000 school report card tables for Chicago and suburban schools. These scores are based on Illinois Standards Achievement Test results from February.
How to read these tables
The lists on the following pages contain numbers for every public school in the six-county Chicago region that participated in the Illinois Standards Achievement Tests in February.
For each test–for example, 5th-grade math–the Tribune calculated the average score of all the children in a school who took it. The Tribune used individual pupil scores provided by the Illinois State Board of Education to make these calculations.
In addition, the ISBE has provided the overall percentage of tests in which children met or exceeded standards for all ISATs in each school. This number indicates whether the school generally met state standards. If fewer than 50 percent of the test scores met standards, the state considers the school to have failed the ISAT.
For comparison, the Tribune used individual pupil data provided by the state to calculate a similar overall percentage for 1999. The 1999 overall average does not incorporate science and social science ISAT results, because those tests were not added to the ISAT program until this year.
For high schools, these lists include ACT composite scores for 1999 and 2000, as well as the percentage of students who took the tests each year. High school ISATs were optional this year, so some high schools may not be listed here, or they may be listed with only ACT scores.
HOW TO USE THIS PAGE. Schools in each county are divided by district and listed in alphabetical order. Find your child’s school and locate the scores for each test by grade, then compare that score to the state standards and averages below.
