James Albert Kraus, age 72, of La Porte, IN, formerly of Calumet City, IL, passed October 31, 2000 at La Porte hospital, beloved husband of Ruth A.; loving father of Donna Pettis, Karyn Campos, Kenneth Kraus, Karl Kraus, Steven Kraus, and Thomas Kraus; cherished grandfather of 16; admired brother of Marjorie Slanina, and Ronald Kraus; uncle of several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Albert and Marcella Kraus, nee Voss; brother Robert Kraus and sister Dorothy Campbell. Funeral Mass, St. Peter Catholic Church, La Porte, IN, 10 a.m. Friday November 3, 2000. Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
