I am a student teacher from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Recently I have been reading a lot about the negative impact of high-stakes standardized testing on children.

How can I help to ensure that children are assessed based on more than a single test score?

This sort of “accountability” seems to only reduce the quality of education that students are receiving.

As a future teacher, my goal is to teach children, not to teach tests. What can be done in regard to this matter?
