I’d just like to thank Dick Locher and Mike Kilian for their occasional quiet tributes to the late Jeff MacNelly in the current incarnation of the Dick Tracy strip. A recent one featured Tracy, put on the spot, telling a Civil War re-enactor that he was with “MacNelly’s Flint Hill Rangers.” MacNelly, of course, lived in Flint Hill, Va., until shortly before his death.
