When I was very young, I remember that it was about this time of year that our living-room floor suddenly got very congested because my father would bring out his Lionel trains and construct a complex layout, which occupied half the floor space. For the next few weeks, I would happily play with them.

Alas, those trains are gone, all but one car and the transformer. The memories are still there.
