It is time the City of Chicago initiates action against illegal blocking of street parking. Since heavy snowfall started in the city, many residents are blocking parking spaces in front of their apartments with chairs or other articles. No one can claim public property, which is meant for use by all. This practice is creating bitterness among neighbors.
I found a free parking place in my neighborhood and parked my car. The next morning, I found someone had damaged my car. A neighbor came out and asked me why I had removed the chairs and parked my car there. I explained there were no chairs on that space. Apparently some other neighbor who did not find parking for himself had removed the chairs and made space available for others.
Let residents help clean the street or cooperate with the City of Chicago in cleaning it. I hope reason will prevail.
