George R. Austin, of Des Plaines, IL, died Friday, December 29, 2000, at Holy Family Hospital after a brief illness. A longtime entrepreneur and marketing executive, Mr. Austin received his undergraduate degree from Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA. He was an active participant in community affairs and served as Vice Chairman of the trustee board at his church. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Ella; son, Jamil; and daughter, Shani; and other relatives. Memorial services were held at the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, in Evanston, IL, and in Tallahassee, FL.
