Angelo Ralph Trozzolo, born Sept. 12, 1920, passed away Jan. 3, 2001, at his home in Northbrook, IL, surrounded by his loving family. He was a decorated veteran of WW II and in 1944 he married Gilda Stellato. He began his professional career at Automatic Electric Co. (now GTE) in Northlake, where he spent 34 years. Retiring as manager of GTE Practices. He then accepted a consulting position with Bell Labs, continuing his pioneering ability to write highly complex technical documents in easy to understand terms. During this time, he also assisted his wife Gilda in the development of G-Whiz Variety Store in Elmwood Park. After retiring for the second time, he and his wife moved to Northbrook, where he founded Papa Angelo’s, a manufacturer of hand crafted holiday yard art, that has become widely popular throughout the North Shore. He was past Chairman of St. Joseph of Bagheria Society and past Adjutant General of the Italian American Veterans of WW II and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his brother Mario; and is survived by his beloved wife Gilda; and their four children, Francine (Keith) DeBartolo, Barbara Walsh (James Arceo), Pasquale (Joan) Trozzolo and Rita (Paul) Ravenna; and brother, Dr. Anthony Trozzolo; he is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Regina Siska, Laura Rankin, Angelo Trozzolo, Nicole Walsh, Jill Trozzolo, Sarah Trozzolo, Valerie Ravenna, Paul Ravenna, Angelica Ravenna and Angelo Ravenna; two great-grandchildren, Oriana and Giana Siska; and many nieces and nephews.
