Tyler James Chamberlain, 11, who infused friends and strangers alike with his personal philosophy to live life at its fullest, died Monday, Jan. 1, in his Chicago home after a battle with leukemia. Tyler was diagnosed with the illness when he was 15 months old and had received three bone-marrow transplants. He remained in high spirits, instilling everyone with the same strength, said his father, Kevin, a financial analyst with Tribune Broadcasting. One of his favorite things to say was “Life is what I make of it,” his father said. “Everyone that met him said he was a special child. He was one of a kind. He touched so many people in so many different ways.” At home, he enjoyed the company of his brothers, Apollo and Christopher, and helping his parents cook meals. Other survivors include his mother, Delores; grandparents James and Charlotte Chamberlain and Vincent and Martha Mayo; and great-grandparents Caroline Chamberlain, Eleanor Mayo and Louise Muzrall. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. James Episcopal Cathedral, 65 E. Huron St., Chicago.
