Margaret Mary Kiesel, nee Naughton, born March 30, 1906, passed away peacefully on Jan. 4, 2001, her last months were spent as a resident of St. Paul Healthcare Center in Chicago. Margaret was a graduate nurse and lifelong resident of the Lincoln Square neighborhood, where her husband Walter Kiesel worked in the family delicatessen for years in the early 20th century. Not having children of her own, she helped to raise youngsters from single parent homes. She was an avid bridge player and taught the game to others. Margaret also loved jokes and never forgot her Irish heritage: indeed, her nickname was “Irish”. She delighted in sewing, knitting and repairing dolls for her little friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Katherine Neary Naughton, her brother Thomas and her husband, Walter Kiesel. She is survived by many friends, nieces, nephews and cousins; and is fondly remembered by her “foster Children”. Funeral Monday, 9:30 a.m. from Pfaff-Garner Funeral Home, 5001 N.
