Susan Lynn Ray, 44, educator and beloved partner passed away peacefully on Dec. 31 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove after a brief illness. Ms. Ray was born and raised in Florida, spent many years as a middle school teacher in Kentucky and most recently was an Adjunct Professor at Northeastern Illinois University. Ms. Ray received her Bachelor’s Degree from George Peabody Teachers College in Nashville, TN and her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Louisville in 1995. Ms. Ray is survived by her partner, Leslie Church; father Troy Ray Jr., mother, Barbara; brother Troy Ray, III, sister Marian Darnell; and many friends. A memorial service will be held at the home of Ms. Ray on Thursday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G.
