Frank J. Westbrook, born Oct. 6, 1925 in Chicago, died Dec. 31, 2000 in Tallahassee, FL after a valiant battle with lung cancer. Two sons, Scott of Eldon, MO and Duff of Albuquerque, NM; three grandsons; and his sister, Virginia Cain of Hollywood, CA survive him. As a member of the Directors Guild of America, Westbrook had a distinguished career in television advertising as an art and creative director working coast to coast. He received his training on a scholarship at the Chicago Art Institute, which he credited for turning his life around as a young student. From 1972 through 1982 he owned and operated the Art Center Palisades in Pacific Palisades, CA. West-brook enjoyed world travel that included numerous trips to Europe, an around the world cruise in 1998 and a Mediterranean cruise in 1999. His sketchpad accompanied him on all his travels. He was a jazz enthusiast and gourmet cook as well as an avid Scrabble player and amateur bird watcher. He had a deep appreciation of the art world and enjoyed visiting the Getty Center Museum and the Chicago Art Institute in his last days. Friends and family will remember his wit, charm, intelligence and art talents.
