Gayle S. Nelson, age 51, of Momence, IL, died Friday, January 5, 2001, at University of Chicago Hospital in Chicago, IL, following a short illness, born on January 22, 1949 in Evergreen Park, IL, the daughter of Sybil Cummins Nolan and the late Robert; survived by her husband David N. Nelson; daughters Maggie (Tom) Boyce, of Oak Forest, IL, Katie Nelson and Suzie Nelson and son Daniel Russell of Chicago, IL; grandsons Ethan Tyler Russell and Brandon Gerald Boyce; sisters Donna (Don) Knapp, of Goodfield, IL and Janet (Bill) Regan, of Chicago, IL; preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa Schroth. Graduated from Evergreen Park High School and Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor Degree in Education. She was the current Physical Education Teacher at Momence Jr. High School and was employed by the Momence School District for 20 years. She had previously coached volley ball and track and had been a sponsor of the cheerleading squad. Visitation Monday, January 8, from 4 to 9 p.m., at the Cotter Funeral Home, in Momence, IL. Funeral service Tuesday, January 9, at 10 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church, in Momence, IL. Interment Sky Line Memorial Park Mausoleum, in Monee, IL.
