The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program provides subsidies of up to 60 percent on energy costs.

Under the revision passed by the legislature Tuesday, grants would be available to families whose income is no more than 50 percent higher than the poverty level as defined by the federal government. For a family of four, that would be $25,560 a year.
