I couldn’t agree more with JeAnne Ingersol in her Jan. 6 letter to the editor, “Commuter dangers.” What was left unsaid, however, is that the dangers that await pedestrians/commuters are prevalent throughout their journey to the bus stop. The biggest culprits are the business owners who plow the snow from their parking lots onto the sidewalk, creating mountains for the commuter to negotiate. This makes it impossible for pedestrians to get where they need to go without resorting to walking in the streets.

Harried drivers then honk and scream and swerve around poor pedestrians, who then fling themselves into those same snow-piles in order to save their skins. This is beyond scary.

The stories that my fellow CTA riders and I have shared would amaze you.
