I find it somewhat disturbing to hear the bile that is still being spewed in the direction of the U.S. Supreme Court nearly a month after its controversial ruling to stop the chaotic Florida recounts. Though the decision fell along the ideological lines of the individual justices, there could be no other way. The decision was based on the Constitution and equal protection for all, not just those with whom we agree.
Even those in dissent offered no solution to the lack of a standard being used from county to county or even table to table during the recount, other than to follow the ambiguous Florida statute that left the recount process open to chaos in the first place.
Let us not forget the “win-at-all-cost” mentality along with an activist Florida Supreme Court that put this unwanted mess in the lap of the U.S. Supreme Court in the first place. To be divisive and wish a pox upon the house of the president-elect serves no purpose. Neither candidate stirred enough passion in the voters to gain a clear victory, so let us keep that in mind and work together for a better United States of America.
