Ann K. Squires, 91, a longtime Naperville resident who immigrated to the United States when she was age 1, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, in Deerbrook Nursing Center in Joliet. Born in Stadsteinach, Germany, she and her family left their native country in 1910 and settled in Chicago. They moved to Naperville in the mid-1920s, where she was later employed by furniture-maker Kroehler Manufacturing Co. She married her husband, the late Clark, in 1930. A homemaker, Mrs. Squires also worked weekends as a waitress in the former Midway Cafe (now Washington Square Restaurant) in Naperville and was a checker at the Jewel Food Store in Naperville for 20 years. She lived at Independence Village for a couple of years before moving to Joliet in the late 1990s. Survivors include a son, Robert C.; a brother, Bernard; and two granddaughters. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, in Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Services will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, and continue with a mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
