Geneva aldermen have approved a preliminary proposal by Shodeen Inc. for a plaza, parking lot and building on the former Seigle’s property in the block bounded by South, 3rd and 4th Streets and Crescent Place, with conditions recommended by city staff.

Conditions include lower light poles with focused lighting as well as landscape enhancements for the parking lot to prevent car headlights from being visible in the surrounding neighborhood. Aldermen also requested that a public restroom facility be eliminated from plans for the plaza.

The building will have either one floor of retail space or two stories with retail on the ground level and possibly a combination of retail, office and residential tenants on the second floor.
