Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Ronald E. Spike Jr., 43, of Prospect Heights died Tuesday, Jan. 9, in Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. Mr. Spike was raised in Wheeling, where he graduated from Wheeling High School. He was an electrician. Until 1992, when he suffered a stroke, he worked as an electrician for Zenith Electronics in Melrose Park. “It was a long road, but he bounced back. He ended up walking again,” recalled his sister-in-law Dawn. “His main motivation behind getting well was his faith in God and his family.” Mr. Spike’s electronics know-how enabled him to record and produce music for Triad, a rock band that included his siblings. He set up a recording studio in his home and produced CDs for the band. Other survivors include his wife, Patricia; his parents, Ronald E. Sr. and Lena; four brothers, Harold Greimann, Rawland, David and Donald; and a sister, Betty. A visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday in Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
