Richard E. Smith, born May 1, 1926, died Jan. 11, 2001, was married for 50 years to Kathleen Welch Smith. Richard was the youngest of 10 children and is survived by his sister, Lauraine and brother, Edward. Deceased siblings include Peter, Charles, William Robert, Sister Mary Virian, Helen and Kathy. Richard is survived by his six children, Gary (Jennifer), Linda (Tim) King, Steven (Debbie), Carol (David) Martin, JoAnne (Tom) Joyce and James (Renee). He was the proud grandfather of the late Christine, Richard and Kathleen Smith, Kristen and Michelle DePorter, Shannon and Jaime King, Austin Smith, Michelle, Christopher and Nicholas Martin, Alexa Smith and Cali and Jenna Joyce. Richard, a WWII Navy Veteran, was a manager with Sears Roebuck in Harvey, IL for 32 years. President of Woodenshoe Rainmakers (NCHA), a member of Dolton Elks, a beloved husband and devoted father.
