Dr. Chui Fan Liu, 71, died on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001 at his home in Arlington Heights. C.F. was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and teacher to those who survive him. Dr. Liu was born in Szechuan China on June 12, 1929. He came to this country in 1949 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree and Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. He married Dr. Nora Liu in 1959 and together they raised four children. He taught chemistry for 30 years, including 23 at the University of Illinois in Chicago. After retiring from the university, he worked as a computer consultant and was president of PC Resources, a computer education company that he founded. A gathering of friends and family to celebrate his life will be held on Jan. 21, 2001 from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Des Plaines Friendship Park Conservatory, 395 Algonquin Rd., Des Plaines. A Memorial Service will start at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his name to the Cabrini Mission Foundation, which funds brain cancer research.
