Robert E. Potter, 80, of Des Plaines, retired in 1985 as a parts manager for General Motors Corp., Chicago. He worked more than 30 years for the company. Mr. Potter, a Chicago native, died Saturday, Jan. 13, in Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. Mr. Potter served with an Army combat engineer battalion in Europe in World War II. “He never married but he took an interest in his 11 nieces and nephews,” said his niece Sue Sledzik. Other survivors include a sister, Dorothy Stoiber. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Strang Funeral Home, 1055 Main St., Antioch.
