Shirley Livek, 50, of Schaumburg, a registered nurse, died of cancer Wednesday, Jan. 10, in Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines. Mrs. Livek graduated with a nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh. After moving to Schaumburg in 1981, Mrs. Livek worked as a nurse in the obstetrics ward at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. In 1996 she began working as a school nurse for Medinah School District 11 in Roselle, where she also taught health and drug education classes. In her spare time, Mrs. Livek enjoyed the outdoors. She went on bike rides and took ski trips to northern Wisconsin. “She was a very caring person,” said her husband of 25 years, James. Other survivors include a daughter, Cori; a son, Jeff; and a sister, Sharon McGlin. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Peter Lutheran Church, 208 E. Schaumburg Rd., Schaumburg.
