The Village Board Monday approved paying an events planner $49,500 to organize the village’s festivals and community celebrations.
The fee is an increase from the $45,000 a year it has paid the company, Great Events, since 1998.
The company will plan a three-day summer festival scheduled for June 22-24; nine Thursday evening concerts; two Saturday night concerts, a 4th of July event; and a two-day Winter Wonderland Festival that is planned for Nov. 23-24.
The village is considering adding carnival rides to its June festival. Village Manager Gregory Biewlawski said the village is trying to offer new attractions that older children and teens may like.
The company also charges $45 to $65 an hour for services that go beyond of the scope of their agreement with the village, such as fundraising, sponsorship and promotion that is considered beyond the normal event promotion.
