The current natural gas bill crisis was precipitated by the Environmental Protection Agency standards forcing coal-fired generating plants to switch to natural gas.
The idea of a pollution-free environment is a worthy goal. But the big picture is missed by the young quick-fix generation. By switching quickly, people lost their jobs, and the stored gas supply was depleted in the summer. Now everybody suffers with high gas bills. This blunder by the shortsighted EPA has and will continue to have a devastating effect on the economy. Let us hope the new administration gets the big picture.
