Roland R. Hacker, 71, of Janesville, WI, died unexpectedly Thursday, January, 18, 2001 at home. He was born March 17, 1929 in Niles Center, IL, the son of Reinhold and Emma Hacker, nee Sobelski. He married the former Jean Pazychowski on July 4, 1951 in Pocahontas, AR. Roland served in the Army during the Korean War and married his sweetheart before he went overseas. After he served in the Army he helped his father and brothers operate a greenhouse business in the Skokie, IL area before moving to Janesville. While in Janesville, Roland and his wife owned and operated Hacker’s Greenhouse for 25 years before he retired in 1998. He was also a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church for many years. He is survived by his wife, Jean; son, Glenn (Karyl) Hacker of Morton Grove, IL; and two grandsons, Timothy and Matthew. He is further survived by his brother, Reinhold “Bud” (Laverne) Hacker of Lombard, IL; sister-in-law, Ruth Hacker of Skokie, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many close friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Clarence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2001 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Skokie, IL with Rev. Michael Croon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home, Janesville, WI, and Sunday from 3 until 8 p.m. at Haben Funeral Home, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie, IL.
