Finding the right book for a child is a little easier with the revised third edition of “The New York Times Parent’s Guide to the Best Books for Children” (Three Rivers Press, $18) by Eden Ross Lipson, that paper’s children’s book editor.
The guide is broken into six sections aimed at different reading levels: wordless, picture, story, early reading, middle reading and young adult. Author and/or illustrator, publisher, publication year, major award and companion or related book information accompanies a brief description of each title.
The 390-page paperback includes the classic children’s books of the last century as well as many new listings of the last decade.
