The Professional Golf Association’s actions in the Casey Martin case are reprehensible (“Martin case walks fine line, Supreme Court weighs PGA rules,” Sports, Jan. 18). Instead of welcoming a handicapped person to compete against the best golfers in the world, the association is attacking that individual all the way to the Supreme Court.
The PGA’s argument that riding in a cart gives a golfer an unfair advantage is nonsense.
As a former longtime caddy, I can assure you that the only person on the golf course getting tired from walking is the one carrying the golf bag.
What is wrong with these overpaid golfers?
Are they afraid they will have to share some of their huge winnings?
Or can’t they stand being beaten by a handicapped person?
