I feel the article “Last call may arrive earlier at 4 a.m. bars, Cook County considers cutting off late-night licenses” missed the point by a wide margin.

My neighborhood is plagued by one of these establishments. This area does not consist of $800,000 yuppie palaces. It has existed since the late 1940s. We have to contend with drunken fights, lack of access to our driveways, bar patrons using yards as bathrooms and motel rooms, confrontations with drunks, knocked-over mailboxes, damaged lawns, beer cans and other assorted garbage strewn across our property, excessive noise, and headlights shining in our windows.

These are not the actions of people who just got off work and stopped by to unwind.

The main purpose of these establishments is sell alcohol to people who don’t feel a night of drinking should end at 2 a.m.
