Rev. Jesse Jackson’s affair should surprise no one. It is an ageless fact that fame mixed with a super ego results in immoral excesses, the first of which is usually sexual sin. Race, age or profession have no influence–witness Bill Clinton, Jimmy Swaggert and countless others both famous and barely known.
For a fleeting moment I had hopes that the exposure and embarrassment would cause Reverend Jackson to take pause, reconsider his ways, repent and become humble before his God and fellow man. My hopes were dashed, though, when I heard him say that Bill Clinton had taught him how to handle such matters.
The lesson: Don’t worry about past mistakes; just go on as though nothing had happened.
That makes me wonder who was counseling whom during the Monica Lewinsky case.
