After being hounded for more than eight years by the zealous right-wing Republicans and their minions in the independent counsel’s office, President Clinton paid a high price to put an end to this saga of most expensive “fishing expedition” undertaken by Kenneth Starr and Robert Ray. It is a shame that this entire investigation boils down to entrapping a man to lie about his sex affairs and to perjure himself.
The wounds inflicted on the psyche of this nation, the lost opportunities to effect sweeping changes to social policy due to preoccupation with this matter and the resulting social costs are enormous.
