The Plan Commission this week voted in favor of a proposed upscale hotel and banquet center at the southwest corner of Gary Avenue and Lies Road.
A group of local investors is seeking to build a Sheraton Four Points on a village-owned, 20-acre property that also holds a park where community events and festivals are held. The hotel would be built in two phases on four acres and would have 193 rooms when completed. The Village Board must still approve the plan.
Kevin Stough, community development director, said the proposal includes an increased landscape buffer on the south side of the property, near a three-story condominium complex.
The proposal also calls for an L-shaped road to be built between Gary Avenue and Lies Road and for a 260-space parking lot.
