Herbert L. Miller, 79, of Princeton, IL, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, born Aug. 10, 1921 in Chicago, the son of the late Ludwig and Svea Nona Berggren Miller. He married Harriett Winchell, Jan. 12, 1946 in Malden, MA, she preceded him in death Feb. 21, 2000; survived by son Richard (Barbara) Miller, Princeton, IL; daughters Rexanne (Curt) Struve, Manning, IA, Jacquelyn (Randy) Wilson, Edmond, OK and Valerie (Scott) Jensen, Tiskilwa, IL; 10 grandchildren. He attended North Park Academy in Chicago and graduated from ITT with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After being employed by IBM, he purchased his father’s business, Miller Paint Equipment Inc. Through entrepreneurial ability, engineering capability and marketing understanding, he improved and expanded the company into an international service and supply organization, regarded as the industry leader. Mr. Miller purchased farm land in Wyanet Twp. and built a home in the early 1980’s. In 1987, after selling his business, Mr. Miller became active in grain and cattle farming in the Bureau County area. He was an avid outdoorsman, an active hunter and fisherman and aided and supported conservation activities. He was a 1942-1945 veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic Theater as a Radio Technician First Class aboard the USS Laramie. Since March 1999, his at home health care needs were provided by his PCNA Elizabeth “Liz” Dobrowolski. There will be a memorial service at Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton, IL, Monday, January 29, 2001. There will be an informal and casual dress visitation 1 to 3 p.m. with Service at 8 p.m., Pastor Tom Schrock officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Bureau /Valley Area Hospice or to the Bureau County Day Care Cente. Cremation has been accorded.
