Bernice Cullotta, 80, of Wheaton, a former longtime resident of Palatine, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, in Wynscape Nursing Home in Wheaton. Born in Chicago, Mrs. Cullotta was a homemaker who raised her family in Chicago. Mrs. Cullotta began working in the shoe department for Wieboldt’s Department Store in Chicago in the 1960s, after her children were older. She retired after she moved to Palatine in 1977. “She was a feisty Italian lady,” said her son, Rich. “She liked big family gatherings and cooking Italian dishes.” Other survivors include two grandchildren and a great-grandson. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine. A mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 467 N. Benton St., Palatine.
