If the Super Bowl Sunday hoopla has you rolling your eyes and thinking up ways to escape the sports freaks in your household, here are some Sunday events that feature women centerstage and should be pigskin-free. Still, men are welcome to come and cheer on the sidelines, if they’d like.

Actress Betsy Means will portray Victorian explorer Mary Kingsley in a one-woman talk at the Glessner House Museum at 2 p.m Sunday.. Afternoon tea will follow the performance. Tickets: $40.1800 S. Prairie Ave. 312-326-1480.

Just down the street, and in conjunction with its current multimedia group exhibit on prejudice, Women Made Gallery will host a poetry reading by a four female writers and open mic at 2 p.m. Sunday. Free. 1900 S. Prairie Ave. 312-328-0038.

Those fleeing the testosterone zone may find comfort in the estrogen-rich atmosphere of the Apollo Theater, where “The Vagina Monologues” currently features Rose Abdoo, Jennifer Estlin and Amy Morton.
