Anna M. Larkin, 102, of Wheaton, had a strong faith and would go out of her way to help others. “She would pray to God for just about everything,” said her daughter Alma Gilleo. Born in Wytheville, Va., Mrs. Larkin died Friday, Jan. 26, in her home. She was raised in Bristol, Va., and married when she was 19. Her first husband died a few years later, and she married Glen Gilleo in 1922. They moved to Detroit and raised six children there. When her second husband died in 1954, she moved to Chicago to be closer to her daughter. Mrs. Larkin worked as a clerk in a card shop in Chicago. “She was always going out of her way to help her customers,” said her daughter, adding that her mother met her third husband, Harvey Larkin, while working at the store. She settled in Gleason, Tenn., and worked as a foster parent for the state. Mrs. Larkin would care for newborns who were waiting to be adopted. She returned to the Chicago area in 1978 and settled in Wheaton. “She was a dear, sweet lady,” her daughter said. Other survivors include daughters Helen Chandler and Carolynn Robbins; a son, F. Richard Gilleo; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel at Wheaton Bible Church, Main and Franklin Streets, Wheaton.
