In the months ahead, I hope the editorial board of the Chicago Tribune will vigorously discuss the need for election reform both in Illinois and throughout the United States. As the recent presidential election revealed, votes are tabulated from county to county by different methods with varying degrees of accuracy.

This should be unacceptable in the United States, a country that prides itself on fair, impartial elections.

The means to fix this problem are available to us. All that is required is the funding and the political will necessary to provide uniformly accurate voting equipment to all voting precincts.
