Angeline Susman, nee Celesnik, 89, of Waukegan, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at her home, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and businesswoman. She was born May 28, 1911 in Ely, MN and lived most of her life there. Angeline and her late husband, Matthew Susman, started the Susman Linoleum and Rug Company in 1939. (Waukegan/Gurnee). The Susman business soon attained “One of the largest in-stock selections of linoleum, ceramic tile and carpet rolls and remnants between Chicago and Milwaukee.” (Chicago Tribune, July 25, 1993, Section 18, “Years of Quality”, by M. Schroeder). Angeline served as Treasurer and Financial Officer of the family corporation until her death. Three generations are now involved in the family business. Angeline was the beloved mother of two sons and a daughter, Robert and Donald Susman and Marge (Nick) Faber, all of Waukegan; the beloved grandmother of 11, Barbara Susman, J.D. of Chicago, Robert of Florida, Richard of Nebraska and James Susman of Oregon, John Susman and Nanette Vanderventer, Bill and Barry Deacon, and Bob, Nick and Angie Faber, all of Lake County; and the beloved greatgrandmother of 16. She is survived by her sisters, Mary (Edward) Atkinson of W. Palm Beach and Frances Parker of Little Rock, AR. Angeline was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew on Dec. 4, 1995. Visitation on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, 5 to 8 p.m. at The Salata-Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee, IL.
