Barbara Zimmer, age 97, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001 at Karmenta Health Care Center in Madison. She was born on March 3, 1903 in Dronau, Austria. The daughter of Steve and Barbara Bernaker. Barbara married John Zimmer on May 8, 1924 in Chicago, he preceded her in death on June 17, 1967. She was a Chicago resident most of her life until moving to Madison in 1990. Barbara worked at the Maryville Academy in Des Plaines for 10 years. She loved to play Bingo. She is survived by her daughters, Helen Buesing of Chicago, Dorothy Caccioppo of Westfield, WI, Lucille Clancy of Friendship, WI, Margaret (Francis) Holly of Portage, WI and Myra (Peter) Reff of Madison; and a son-in-law, Al Cantafio of Fox Lake, WI. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her daughter, Florence Cantafio; sons-in-law, Jack Caccioppo and Ray Buesing; and her greatgrandson, Bryan Cantafio. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, 11 a.m. at Maryville Academy, 1150 N. River Rd., Des Plaines, IL. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
