Helen E. Krob, 91, a homemaker who enjoyed chatting with friends on her front porch, died Thursday, Feb. 1, in Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn. She was born in Chicago and attended Harrison High School. She lived in Lawndale for 24 years before moving to the Oak Lawn area. She frequently cooked pork, sauerkraut and dumplings for her guests, who included some Hawaiian entertainers from a local nightclub, said her son Richard. “They would come over in their muumuus,” he said. “Then we’d sit out on the front porch and they would sing songs and play the ukulele.” In addition to her son, Mrs. Krob is survived by three other sons, Donald, David and Dennis; a sister, Marie Jankovec; a brother, Richard Janega; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
